Considering we felt the original Switch “already felt outdated” when it first launched, the Switch 2 makes many of the improvements we had been pining for. Not only does the processor ensure the Switch 2 feels more reliable and capable than its predecessor, but the console now supports 4K visuals and HDR output too.
With a 7.9-inch, 1080p display, a redesigned dock and more feature-packed Joy-Cons, the Switch 2 offers a more complete gaming experience, while still retaining the charm of its predecessor. It remains a versatile console, as it’s playable as a handheld, on a tabletop and when docked a TV.
New with the Switch 2 is the GameChat feature, which is accessible by clicking the C button on the right Joy-Con. From here you can start a chat with friends, share your game screen and even connect to the Switch 2 Camera (which is sold separately) for more social gaming.

Otherwise, the Joy-Cons are slightly larger than their predecessors and now magnetically attach to the console rather than needing to slide in. It might not sound like much, but it’s a welcome upgrade.
If you’re concerned about losing all your gameplay from your OG Switch games then worry not, as the Switch 2 is backwards compatible and will continue to support older titles. What’s more is that some titles will benefit from tweaks and enhancements to improve gameplay for the Switch 2.
Overall, we awarded the Switch 2 with a four-star rating, with Editor Max Parker concluding that the Switch 2 “feels like what Nintendo wanted all along, but couldn’t achieve the first time around. A great screen, enough power, modern design and mod-cons like 4K, HDR and more.”
So, whether you’re considering upgrading your Switch to the newer model, or you finally want to experience what Nintendo’s flagship console has to offer, this Prime Day Switch 2 deal is an easy recommendation.
