Twelve South has launched the CableStay, a USB-C cable and weighted desk anchor sold as a single colour-matched set.
The concept behind the CableStay is straightforward enough, but the execution sets it apart from the generic cable clips and adhesive holders. The anchor and cable are integrated into one, rather than being treated as separate purchases.
At the core of the set is a five-foot woven USB-C to USB-C cable, reinforced stress points, and a silicone coating for long-term durability. The cable is then paired with a silicone-weighted anchor that holds the cable at the edge of a desk, nightstand, or counter without requiring friction locks or mechanical clips.
The cable supports up to 60W USB-C Power Delivery, covering day-to-day charging for iPhone, iPad, and Mac accessories, and the weighted anchor portion also works independently with other USB-C cables a user already owns, extending its utility beyond the included cable. It is a shame the cable is not faster, as this limits its use with higher-powered devices like the best MacBooks, although it is suitable for a MacBook Neo.
Twelve South has given the anchor a sculptural form that sits closer to a decorative object than a standard cable management tool, with the weighted base allowing smooth, natural movement while keeping the cable end steady and accessible at the edge of any surface.
The travel-friendly angle also makes the CableStay a reasonable option for anyone who regularly works across multiple locations, since a single compact set replaces the need to keep spare cables at a home desk, office, and bag simultaneously.
The CableStay is available now in four colour sets, with each option pairing the cable and anchor in the same finish across Jelly Mint, Electric Fuchsia, Slate, and Dune, and the compact profile of the anchor means the set packs flat for travel use as well. Pricing sits at $29.99 per set, with all four colourways available.
