Monitor Audio is giving one of its longest-running speaker ranges a major overhaul.
The new Radius Series 4G takes the compact speakers that have been part of the company’s line-up for years and rebuilds them for modern homes, desktop setups and multi-room audio systems.
While the small footprint remains, Monitor Audio says the new range delivers a significant jump in sound quality, thanks to redesigned drivers, tweeters and cabinet construction.
The fourth-generation line-up consists of three models: the Radius 1 bookshelf speaker, the larger Radius 3, and the wall-mountable Radius On-Wall. Together, they can be used in anything from a simple stereo system to a full surround-sound home cinema setup.
The biggest changes are under the hood. Monitor Audio has updated its signature C-CAM drivers with the latest RST III cone design. This is intended to reduce unwanted resonance and improve clarity. There’s also a completely redesigned Gold Dome tweeter, as well as new crossover networks that have been tuned to deliver a cleaner signal between the amplifier and drivers.

Those upgrades are paired with cabinet refinements aimed at squeezing bigger sound from relatively small speakers. Through-bolt driver bracing helps reduce vibrations. Additionally, the company’s HiVe II port technology is designed to improve airflow and bass performance.
Meanwhile, the new Radius 3 goes a step further. It features a port that’s 50% larger than the previous generation to help deliver deeper low-end response.

What’s perhaps most interesting is how flexible the new range appears to be. Monitor Audio has developed a collection of matching accessories, including tripod-style floor stands, wall brackets and a dedicated desk pad for near-field listening. That makes the Radius Series 4G just as suited to a desktop music setup as it is to a living room surround-sound system.
It’s a clear attempt to modernise the Radius line without losing what made it popular in the first place: compact speakers that don’t dominate a room but still aim to deliver genuinely hi-fi sound.
