<p>A new study contends <strong>hundreds of millions of dollars</strong> are needed – in addition to millions already being spent – to <strong>stop the spread of PFAS chemicals</strong> in groundwater, <a href=”https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/06/22/controlling-forever-chemicals-in-the-east-twin-cities-metro-will-be-costly” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>MPR News reports</a>. The most ambitious plan contained in the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s report involves <strong>pumping and treating PFAS-contaminated water </strong>before distributing it to cities in the east metro and even the underground aquifer.</p>

<p><strong>Google </strong>will hold a <strong>community open house </strong>at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Hermantown about the <strong>data center</strong> it proposes, <a href=”https://www.northernnewsnow.com/2026/06/23/google-hold-community-open-house-proposed-hermantown-data-center/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Northern News Now reports</a>. “In the announcement, Google said it is committed to ensuring neighbors have a seat at the table and claims company representatives will provide <strong>transparency around the project</strong>.”</p>
<p>Meanwhile, an <strong>Inver Grove Heights City Council </strong>meeting ended abruptly on Monday night over data center policy, <a href=”https://www.fox9.com/news/inver-grove-heights-city-council-meeting-cut-short-before-data-center-vote-residents-furious” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>FOX 9 reports</a>: “The <strong>room erupted with people shouting ‘Boo! Boo! Boo!'</strong> and demanding a chance to speak.” The meeting was rescheduled for Friday morning.</p>
<p>An election judge was sentenced to <strong>30 days in the Hubbard County jail</strong> for accepting ballots from <strong>voters who weren’t registered </strong>in the 2024 election, <a href=”https://www.twincities.com/2026/06/22/minnesota-election-judge-gets-jail-time-for-accepting-ballots-from-11-unregistered-voters/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>the Park Rapids Enterprise reports</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Minnesota homeowners</strong> with unfinished home projects they had already paid now defunct <strong>Minnesota Rusco</strong> to complete can recoup losses from a recovery fund, <a href=”https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/breaking-the-news/only-15-minnesota-rusco-customers-have-applied-for-state-recovery-fund-heres-why-complicated/89-06a64941-94e9-4ee4-8076-872cb3d326d8″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>KARE 11 reports</a>. But with a deadline approaching in July, state officials say <strong>few people have applied </strong>for the money. </p>
<p>Craft beer festival <strong>All Pints North </strong>will move locations after this year’s event in Duluth in August, <a href=”https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-lifestyle/all-pints-north-is-ending-its-14-year-run-in-duluth” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Bring Me The News reports</a>. The festival has been held on the <strong>shores of Lake Superior for 14 years</strong>, but organizers say they will announce a new 2027 location soon.</p>
