5 Of The Safest Caribbean Islands Worth The Splurge

Share The Article

As someone who spends half the year living out of a suitcase and the other half obsessing over our next trip, I get this question constantly: “Where can I splurge on a Caribbean vacation without feeling trapped on the resort property?”

There is nothing worse than dropping five figures on a luxury getaway, only to realize the surrounding area isn’t secure enough to explore.

That completely defeats the purpose of the trip. If I am paying a premium, I want the absolute freedom to rent a car, wander around after dark, and truly experience the island.

Looking at our recent Traveler Safety Index data, there’s a massive divide in the region. Popular Mexican Caribbean spots like Cancún and Playa del Carmen score high, but they still carry a Level 2 travel advisory.

The same goes for famous hubs like Punta Cana, Montego Bay, and Nassau.

If you want to truly splurge and sleep soundly, you need the peace of mind that comes with a Level 1 advisory from the U.S. State Department—meaning you only need to “exercise normal precautions” AND a high score on our Traveler Safety Index.

Having spent a lot of time hopping around this region myself and obsesses over our Safety Index Data and government advisories, here are the 5 ultra-safe, high-end Caribbean destinations I absolutely love and think are totally worth the splurge:

PLUS: I’ve built an interactive quiz for you at the end of this article so you can find out which one is your perfect match, be sure to check it out!

1. Aruba

Safety Index Score: 98 | Travel Advisory: Level 1

Aruba is the undeniable star of our safety index, scoring a massive 98, and it dominates for a very good reason.

Sitting safely outside the hurricane belt, you are guaranteed incredibly stable weather, and the tourism infrastructure is virtually bulletproof.

But for me, the splurge here is entirely about freedom.

You can book a luxury oceanfront suite along Eagle Beach or reserve a private overwater cabana on Renaissance Island, but you aren’t stuck there.

My absolute favorite thing to do on the island is rent a Jeep, throw my camera in the passenger seat, and spend the day completely off-roading through Arikok National Park to capture the rugged coastline.

After dark, you can casually walk to high-end dining in Palm Beach without a single worry.

2. Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Safety Index Score: 84 | Travel Advisory: Level 1

One of my favorite parts of visiting Grand Cayman was going to Sting Ray City. Don’t be afraid to get in the water with them! They are gentle and super fun to interact with.

Grand Cayman pairs its Level 1 status with world-class medical infrastructure and deep-pocketed financial stability.

It is easily one of the most secure environments in the entire region, making it a massive draw for luxury travelers.

The experience here is incredibly polished and heavily focused on immaculate service. The ultimate splurge involves checking into the sprawling Ritz-Carlton or the Kimpton Seafire on Seven Mile Beach, and chartering a private catamaran out to Stingray City.

Let’s be honest, half the reason I travel is for the food. Thankfully, the culinary scene here is unbelievable.

You have to book a table at Blue by Eric Ripert; their menu is an absolute masterpiece of perfectly executed, approachable coastal cuts.

3. St. Barts (Saint Barthélemy)

Safety Index Score: 90 | Travel Advisory: Level 1

St. Barts is the absolute pinnacle of Caribbean exclusivity.

This tiny French territory maintains zero-tolerance security and operates as a renowned haven for celebrities, executives, and world leaders.

I will never forget the first time I arrived here.

The island naturally filters out the massive crowds because there are absolutely no direct commercial flights. Getting here requires a ferry ride or a thrilling landing in a private small-aircraft charter that drops right over a mountain peak.

Once you touch down, the splurge is effortless. I highly recommend spending your days relaxing in a cliffside private villa in Pointe Milou, designer shopping along the immaculate streets of Gustavia, and enjoying Champagne-fueled afternoons at Nikki Beach.

4. Anguilla

Safety Index Score: 91 | Travel Advisory: Level 1

Just a short boat ride away from the busy, congested cruise port of St. Maarten, Anguilla remains remarkably quiet and completely untouched by mass tourism standards.

When I just want to completely unplug and disappear from the world for a week, this is the premium destination. It’s built for travelers who prioritize absolute seclusion and pristine beaches over loud, chaotic nightlife.

The island is famous for its high-end, villa-centric luxury.

Booking an ultra-premium property like Cap Juluca or the Four Seasons guarantees a private, incredibly quiet environment with dedicated butler service.

It is the ultimate spot to recharge.

5. Barbados

Safety Index Score: 81 | Travel Advisory: Level 1

While some islands are designed for total isolation, Barbados offers a vibrant, culture-heavy luxury experience.

It’s designed specifically for travelers who want to safely leave their resort and actually mingle with the locals.

The island’s Platinum Coast on the west side is famous for its calm, perfectly clear waters and massive high-end estates.

The ultimate splurge here is a stay at the legendary Sandy Lane, known for its world-class golf courses, immaculate service, and high-profile clientele.

Because the island is so remarkably safe, I love confidently spending the afternoon exploring the historic capital of Bridgetown, and then heading out to dine at elite oceanside restaurants like The Cliff.

Apple announced iOS 27 on Monday at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The tech giant said the upcoming iPhone software will include an AI-integrated Siri, called Siri AI, and more ways to refine Liquid Glass on your device. And iPhones dating back to the iPhone 11 lineup will be able to run the upcoming software.

Apple’s WWDC announcement said it will release iOS 27 to the general public in the fall. Historically, Apple has released upcoming major iOS updates shortly after company’s September hardware event, so the company will likely release the software around then. Developers can download a beta version of iOS 27 now, and Apple will release a public beta version of iOS 27 in July.

Here are some of the new features iOS 27 will bring to your iPhone.

An AI-integrated Siri is everywhere

After months of rumors, Apple confirmed at WWDC that iOS 27 will integrate AI into your iPhone’s digital assistant Siri. This update is the biggest change in iOS 27, and it will touch seemingly everything on your device.

Apple has finally unveiled its revamped voice assistant.

Almost the entirety of Apple’s presentation focused on how Siri AI will be able to help you across your device in different ways. You’ll be able to swipe down on your iPhone’s Dynamic Island to search or start a conversation with Siri AI. The assistant will be able to take actions in apps like Messages, Music and Reminders, too.

Apple wrote online that Siri AI will be available on Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones, like the iPhone 16 Pro, later this year.

Siri was such a big star at WWDC, Apple announced the personal assistant will also have its own separate app that you will be able to access in iOS 27.

“A dedicated app brings together all your conversations in one place, so you can ask a question on your iPhone and pick up where you left off on your iPad,” Apple wrote online. “You can also pin conversations for easy access or start a new one.”

This turns Siri AI into an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT and Claude.

Siri comes to your Camera

Apple said its digital assistant will also be in your Camera app with the new Siri Mode in iOS 27. Once you activate this new mode, you’ll be able to point your camera at something around you and get information about it on your iPhone.

Updated Image Playground app

With iOS 27, your iPhone’s Image Playground app gets an update which will allow you to create photorealistic images.

Apple introduced its AI-image generator in 2024 when it released iOS 18.2.

Liquid Glass changes

Apple showed off a Liquid Glass slider at WWDC on Monday that lets you change the Liquid Glass elements across your device. You’ll be able to make those elements semi-translucent, opaque or something in between.

Apple introduced the Liquid Glass design in 2025 alongside iOS 26. It’s the first major visual change on iPhones since iOS 7 in 2013.

Apple said that your iPhone’s Health app’s cycle tracking feature will support both menopause and perimenopause. You’ll be able to log symptoms related to both within the app, and the app will have educational content available to help you learn more about your body.

Those are a few of the new features iOS 27 is expected to bring to iPhones this fall. Developers can try these features now, and Apple said public beta testers will get access to the software in July.
